Solution

If you find that the SharePoint Essentials Toolkit is crashing and you see this in the Windows Event Log:

"The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception.
Exception Info: System.AccessViolationException
Stack: at MS.Win32.Penimc.UnsafeNativeMethods.GetPenEventMultiple"

We have found customers who reported this error and it is due to a bug in Windows OS relating to a Touch driver and the .NET Framework.

The fix is to update Windows or the .NET framework.
