I am getting "The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception. Exception Info: System.AccessViolationException Stack: at MS.Win32.Penimc.UnsafeNativeMethods.GetPenEventMultiple"

Solution

If you find that the SharePoint Essentials Toolkit is crashing and you see this in the Windows Event Log

"The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception.
Exception Info: System.AccessViolationException
Stack: at MS.Win32.Penimc.UnsafeNativeMethods.GetPenEventMultiple"

We have found a few customers who reported this error and it is due to a bug in Windows Touch and the .NET Framework.

The fix is to update Windows or the .NET framework.
